Ashley Prince has a strong background in architectural history and theory, particularly in regards to sacred architecture, which she gained through opportunities as a teaching assistant and elective coursework. Ms. Prince has had the pleasure of knowing and working with some of the most intelligent people in the field of architecture. She believes the best way, other than through personal experience, to become a better architectural designer and theorist is to absorb what the best academics and professionals have said about architectural design and theory and to do the best to absorb their pedagogies and methods of elucidation.
Ms. Prince has the natural gifts of visual creativity, problem solving, and organization; all of these talents were nurtured and enhanced by her architectural education. Through her education, she gained a great proficiency with Microsoft, Adobe, and Autodesk programs which allows her to create any digital or print media needed. Through the self-teaching of many software programs, Ms. Prince has gained the necessary tools to learn and master any software program quickly. Additionally, the loose formatting of an architectural education has prepared her extensively to handle competing projects and to organize her time and projects hierarchical in order to time manage expectations and deliverables. Ms. Prince is disciplined, detailed-oriented, and creative.
Ms. Prince attended both Mississippi State University and The Catholic University of America. While at CUA, Ms. Prince had the pleasure of working on the design-build project, Memorial to the Ancestors, for which she and the rest of the team, under the leadership of Travis Price, were awarded an AIA Award. Ms. Prince recently finished her Master’s thesis, To Know Our Dead: An Architectural Proposal for a New Socialization of Death, Burial, and Mourning for the Modern American Catholic Church, for which she received a commendation from the Dean of the School of Architecture.
