In a world where memory is being forgotten and the importance of preserving memory an insignificant issue, the intent for this project will be to focus on the sensory museum of Glasgow. Our senses, elicit memories to be retrieved from the mind, the museum will be a container of the various senses experienced through the city of its former self. Two type of users will be attracted towards this museum, one with a memory of past Glasgow and the other without. Through the sensory exhibitions the public will be able to visit or re-visit the past of Glasgow through an experiential journey. By targeting various senses to revive the memory of the user or, to introduce them to that specific memory will allow this experience to take place. The museum will be situated within a contemplative park, as there is a lack of such a space within Glasgow for the public, and as established through the research to remember is to think. The site chosen is the former Bilsland Bakery site. This site is imperative as it is located near the motorway and on the waterfront of river Clyde, it is the entrance to the city of Glasgow. The area itself requires much re-generation and through this project a proposition has been made to re-use the area for contemplative uses as well as experiencing various routes through the site. No one journey will be the same. Vast landscaping and a re-configuration of the roads will be implemented in order to breathe new life into the waterfront with the implementation of this project.
