In the most recent issue of BOOM: A Journal of California, a new, cross-disciplinary publication that explores the history, culture, arts, politics, and society of California, Arid Lands Institute co-founders Hadley and Peter Arnold have a piece published titled Pivot: Reconceiving Water Scarcity as Design Opportunity | Mapping a More Absorbent Landscape. The piece presents research done by the Arid Lands Institute as Los Angeles heads into its 100th year of using imported water.

HADLEY AND PETER ARNOLD are founding codirectors of the Arid Lands Institute at Woodbury University. ALI’s research and design work has been supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Metropolitan Water District, the California Council of the American Institute of Architects, LA’s Architecture and Design Museum, private foundations, and communities around the West.
