Strategically an optimist and tactically a realist, Ar. Raunak Chaudhary (B. 1997, Jaipur, Raj: IND) is a licensed architect and a futurist at heart, working at the intersection of architecture, research and development, and Management. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Architecture (B.Arch) from the Sushant School of Art and Architecture (SSAA, Delhi: IND) from 2015 to 2020. Pursuing his passion for integrating design and Management, Raunak completed a Postgraduate Program in Mastering Design Thinking at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Executive Management in 2021. Currently, he is concluding his Master of Architecture II (M.Arch II) in advanced technological research at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc).
His professional trajectory includes roles as a Junior Architect at IDEAS Jaipur, contributing to projects like the Mall of Jaipur and BJP district offices, and as an Assistant Artist with M. Pravat on the series "An Unconscious Geometry of Time" and "Structural Ruination." In 2020, Raunak founded LOBBER, an ecosystem for collaborative research that transcends predefined boundaries and practises design beyond its traditional borders. LOBBER includes the MASS Research Lab, exploring the relationship between sound and space with producers, audio engineers, writers and sonic practitioners, and CO-AL, the Co-Existential Architecture Lab, which develops urban planning solutions with a co-habitable and co-existence-based outlook with animal behaviourists, urban planners, architects, animal right activists, designers, animal organisations and government authorities.
Raunak's scholarly contributions include numerous publications under review, such as "Inflammation in Architecture Theory" and "Extinction of Smell Affecting Urban Planning in Cities." His upcoming work, "Theatrics, Technics and Architecture: De/Augmentation of Spatial Environment Using a Digital Interface," is set to be his M.Arch II thesis in 2024.
His accolades include the SCI-Arc Continuing Scholarship and the SCI-Arc Award for the 2023-24 Academic Year, as well as recognition as a DEI Co-Lead for the AAPI region. Raunak was also a Peer Mentor at SCI-Arc for the fall 2023 Academic Year, and his project "Co_al: Street animal training protocol" was a top 5 shortlisted and runner-up entry for the Saint-Gobain International Fellowship 2022-23.
Raunak is physically present in Los Angeles, where he continues exploring his diverse interests, including scuba diving, running, music, exercising, callisthenics, and culinary design.
