Presidential Citation: For Equipping the Next Generation of Architect, Award

I received the Presidential Citation award from AIA Dallas for my significant contributions towards making the Young Professionals Network more effective in our shared goal of better equipping the next generation of architects.

A lot of my personal time this year was spent redeveloping the AIA Dallas Success Teams program, which aims to help ARE candidates finish all the ARE exams within a year. After submitting a proposal to the AIA College of Fellow and winning the grant, we were able to implement a beta program in the AIA Dallas chapter in the second half of 2018. Our efforts for 2019 are to do the first full run of this program and to work with several other local AIA Texas chapters to run their own versions of the program in the near future.

Emerging Professional Component Grant, Grant

2018 Recipient of the Emerging Professional Component Grant.

The ARE Success Teams program is a staple program of AIA Dallas that aims to have participants take all ARE exams (Architect Registration Exams) within a year.

With the new ARE 5.0 having major differences to the previous exams, I developed a major portion of an updated program, adding newly available materials and developing a system of direct mentoring sessions. With the help of Kyle Kennerly, AIA we developed a way to integrate several other ARE related AIA Dallas programs, such as ARE Trivia Nights and ARE Lecture series.

We applied and won a portion of the grant, which supplied funds that we needed to make the program a reality and help the next generation of architects succeed.

You Got 5 Minutes Kid: Student Edition, Other

I was chosen to speak and present on my passion in the field of architecture. My presentation focused on how technology continues to challenge the future of designing a sense of "place" within the built environment.
