I am adaptable and not afraid of stepping into the unknown. An example of this is my move to London this fall to work at PLP Architecture. Here I had to set up life in a city I had never been and adapt to the difficulties of both lockdown and remote working. The difficulty of mentorship during Covid is something I dealt with extensively at PLP. Nonetheless I have learned to work through by increasing vocal communication and maintaining a positive attitude. I am also eager to take personal responsibility for developing the skills (such as software knowledge) needed of me in my position.
Something unique about me is I grew up working residential construction. Last summer I acted as a carpenter on a new build for a large two story house in Lino Lakes Minnesota. Construction has taught me an eye for detail along with skills in leadership and communication. I have learned that good work in both design and build is a result of consistent and thoughtful engagement.
PLP Architecture, London, Architecture Assistant
Helped on two competition projects with tight deadlines. The first project was a retail development for the podiums of an office and residential tower in Tokyo. I helped with researching and 3d modelling the site in Rhino. My work also included producing diagrams and drawings using Adobe Illustrator and Indesign. Near the end of the project I worked on plan drawings, and helped in the model shop to plan and assemble a large model of the design.
