A native of Hudson, Michigan, Andrew Baker learned the violin at a young age. Trained in the Suzuki method, he performed in a number of youth orchestras, including the United States Youth Orchestra. He has also performed with the Hillsdale Orchestra, Traverse City Symphony Orchestra and Lawton Oklahoma Symphony. He graduated with a BS in Computer Graphics, Photography, and Ceramics/Sculpture from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. Some of his award-winning artwork has been displayed in such galleries as the Honeywell Center, the Beard Art Center, and the See- Saw gallery. He has traveled throughout the world with a number of art history programs. He completed his MFA in Visual Communication from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York and received the prestigious presidential Achievement Award. His thesis, a collaboration with the Eastman School of Music, concentrated on developing a pedagogy using visual design metaphors to teach musical elements. Receiving critical approval, his work is published through Eastman and is incorporated in their Music Education curriculum.
He continues to challenges himself to seek out innovative solutions to challenging problems. He never seeks to maintain the “status quo.” He values People as the most valuable resource of any organization. The collaboration and communication with others is what has enabled Baker to achieve success. Design shapes every part of his life.

International Video Dance Festival of Burgundy Traveling Exhibition, Award
I developed a series of photographs depicting Native American dances. The series of photographs express the rich cultural style and movement of the Native Americans. Two pieces from this body of work was selected for the International Video Dance Festival and is currently touring across France.

wrote grant to bring Don Sibley, a native Texan who started Sibley /Peteet Design in 1982, an internationally recognized advertising agency. He is represented in the permanent collection of the Library of Congress and the Museum of Modern Art in Hiroshima. He is also a founding board member of the Texas Chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts.

The Faculty Innovative Instructional Grant was granted to the art department. I wrote the grant titled “ Innovative Instruction with Improved Technology for Cameron’s Art Department” to enhance the art department learning environment. The Improved Output Devices for Cameron’s Art Department will help meet the needs for the standards of Learning Outcome Objective 4: students will have on graduation higher-order thinking skills, and Objective 5: students will reveal on graduation a high level of professionalism and to demonstrate that creativity in expressing content is an essential aspect of producing significant fine art.
