Amit Upadhye was born and raised in Ahmedabad, India. He studied undergraduate architecture at Institute of Environmental Design, Sardar Patel University in India. He worked with renowned and award winning architect, Anant Raje on Lou Kahn’s Indian Institute of Management extensions, Ahmedabad. Raje worked with Lou Kahn in Philadelphia and was the project architect for IIM, Ahmedabad.
In 1993 Amit migrated to Singapore where he worked on several large scale projects including The Esplanade-Theaters on the Bay, a joint venture of DP Architects and (James Stirling) Michael Wilford and Partners, London.
In 1997, he went to United States as a graduated student of architecture to University of New Mexico, Albuquerque in Spring of 1997, where he was chosen for honors graduate studio to participate and win the ideas afloat international design competition in NY. He moved to Phoenix in the fall of 1998 and worked with Marwan Al-Sayed Architects for the Houses at Sagaponac project, with Architekton+Barton Myers for Tempe Center for the Arts project, Eddie Jones on International Border Station, Nogales and The Construction Zone, a design+build firm, on various high profile design+build projects.
In 2010, he moved back to Singapore to work for Aedas on Suntec City remodel project and then in 2013 he was hired by Morphosis, LA to work on their projects in Singapore and China.
His freelance projects have been published in reputed magazines, websites and in news papers. He is widely travelled in India, Southeast Asia, Australia, UK and the United States.
