OTHRSPACE is a Los Angeles-based creative practice focused on Amanda’s personal work which includes painting, furniture, and sculptural objects. Amanda is also 1/2 of Chimera Design, a full service bi-coastal interior design firm she shares with her decade-long RISD collaborator and business partner Daisy Hook, based in Hudson Valley NY.
Amanda’s creative work has since evolved much more deeply into the exploration and intersection of furniture and sculpture and how materials and building techniques can tell a story, or influence a person or space. Amanda enjoys making her own rules about design, often creating pieces that challenge what we know to be familiar, comfortable, and safe. She enjoys creating room for herself to explore the idea of unconventional practices that can evoke new modes of interaction and understanding from whoever is interfacing with her work.
Amanda often investigates her ideas by utilizing client work to experiment with concepts, explore new materials, and try bespoke fabrication methods influenced and built upon by the research and experience that she brings to the table. Amanda’s background in the fine arts combined with her professional experience and design training in architecture gives her a fine-tuned and unique lens when she works with clients. This allows her to be a creative force and conduit that connects all parties during a project. Whether it’s to build out a branded office space, a personal residence, wine bar, or local deli. Amanda’s 10 years of experience have given her a robust roster of projects and clients which she continues to build upon today.
