Host House

This project was envisioned to be located in Newport Beach. With an ideal site location, the thought behind the design was to constantly blur the line between the exterior and interior realm and let the water and immediate context be a strong presence in the house. Hence, the specific use and location of glazing, nana walls, and courtyard like spaces. In addition, the rectangular volumes of the house are orientated to not only harness the sun but frame the view as well, and “celebrate” its surrounding environment. The plan is particularly open promoting free movement throughout the interior spaces, letting one room “flow” into the next.
