The mission was to create a memorial in dedication to Civil Rights Activist and literacy advocate Septima Clark.  I chose to design a library in honor of her involvement with literacy in the African American community in the same location that a previous library was demolished.  The previous library was demolished due to the construction of a huge parkway that divided the community, and was ironically named after Septima Clark.
