Alison is actively seeking job opportunities in Architecture in Stockholm, Sweden where she currently resides.
Alison is an accomplished, international architect with more than 8 years of professional experience in the complexities of design and construction. Having worked in both the U.S. and Sweden, she offers a unique combination of competencies in project management, sustainability and high-end, hospitality-oriented design for new and renovated construction.
Most recently, Alison has been part of a small but dynamic intenrational design team at Ross Arkitektur & Design where her responsibilities have ranged from design development through production of Swedish permit and construction drawings as well as 3D visualizations for several luxury villas across greater Stockholm. Prior to this, as a Project Manager at Bentel and Bentel Architects in New York, Alison coordinated several high-profile, interior-focused architectural projects including, the 3960m2 interior renovation of the Sky Villa Suites at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, as well as many celebrated restaurants, bars and public spaces that include new, renovated, adaptive re-use and historical landmarks across the U.S. and Canada.
Alison is experienced with all phases of design from initial planning sketches through construction documentation including the construction administration of complex projects. Alison has the unique capacity to think and work seamlessly between architecture and interiors - a flexibility that extends her design competency across all scales - from the detailing and fabrication of custom furniture, millwork and lighting to entire building systems and materials. With a curious, responsible and pro-active attitude to problem-solving, I she has successfully coordinated multiple projects and work streams under demanding deadlines following the high standards of quality required from her clients.
Alison considers good communication to be instrumental in fostering positive professional relationships with colleagues, clients and project stakeholders. To advance this, she continues to improve her Swedish language capacity -- which is presently at the Intermediate level. She holds a valid Swedish work and residency permit (sambo visa) through September 2020 which is currently in the process of being renewed.
Alison has been a Registered Architect in the State of New York since February 2018. She believes strongly in the importance of mentorship for the next generation of designers, especially that of young women, and in 2017 was nominated to be a guest lecturer at the annual Imagine Your Possibilities: STEM Conference held in New York. Her workshop, “The Architecture of Happiness: How to Become an Architect and Save the World from Bad Design!" offered middle-school aged girls an opportunity to interact and participate in hands-on learning and focused on collaborative place-making through team-building exercises.
In 2010, she graduated with her M.Arch from the University of Virginia. There, she focused on sustainable design and prefab construction, and as a graduate student, lead a multi-disciplinary design team as a Project Manager and sustainability consultant for the ecoMOD Project's THRUhouse, in Charlottesvile, Virginia. While attending UVA, Alison also served as the Co-Executive director for Green Grounds Group, a student steered organization dedicated to education and advocacy for sustainable planning and design across the UVA campus, including preparation of a research and feasibility proposal for green roof replacement system at the School of Architecture. Alison also served as a Graduate Advisor
for an undergraduate research team which sought ways to incorporate sustainable building strategies (LEED and Earthcraft) in the context of affordable housing.
