About 

Alex works for Goldenvoice and is a part of creating the site plans for and overseeing construction of some of the largest concerts and festivals in the world. Prior to his job at Goldenvoice, Alex worked for Cliff Garten Studio, working as a designer and project coordinator, completing fabrication drawings for numerous projects ranging from public art to furniture design. Alex also helped create a custom software environment focused on addressing issues present in the Owens Dry Lake caused by the LA Aqueduct while working for Landscape Morphologies Lab, researched, modeled and prototyped projects made using airform concrete construction for local architect Douglas Stanton, and has experience building low-income housing while working for bcWORKSHOP in Dallas. Alex holds a B.S. Arch from UT Arlington and a M. Arch II from SCI-Arc. 

Employment 

Goldenvoice, Los Angeles, CA, US, Production Manager

Designs venues for concerts and festivals by creating CAD site plans from GIS data and on-site measurements and surveys, then works with stage managers, festival producers, venue owners, vendors, local police, fire departments, cities and municipalities, government organizations, and many others throughout the planning process. In turn, the drawings and site plans created through this collaborative process map out and locate everything from existing site features to the temporary and permanent infrastructure that makes the event happen. Also responsible for creating physical 3D models and renderings of prospective concerts and festivals designs to help visualize and plan the experience of going to see a musical performance.

Design and project coordination for numerous national and international public art projects. The position involved working through a conceptual design process, then creating 3D models of the concepts, producing fabrication drawings of the designs, developing construction details and methods, working with engineers for structural purposes, contractors for installation, real estate developers and clients, as well as lighting consultants for simulation and analysis on pieces varying in form, scale, materiality, and site conditions.

Landscape Morphologies Lab, Los Angeles, CA, US, Research Assistant

Designed custom software using Processing and Adruino to visualize, analyze, and simulate different terrain models with resource usage scenarios for the Owens Dry Lake in California by creating a real-time game/design environment. In addition, a portable arcade machine allows beginners and experts alike to engage with the issues present on the site in a fun and interactive way, with a joystick, buttons, and knobs. The arcade machine first went on display to the public at the ACADIA 2014 Design Agency Conference, and again for exhibition at the Los Angeles Contemporary Galleries (L.A.C.E.) in Hollywood from March 4th - April 12th 2015. Future exhibitions planned by Alex Robinson in Lone Pine, CA and other locations TBD.
