Alexa is a New York-based designer who is pursuing visual arts, including graphic design, typography, interiors, architecture, and fashion, while maintaining a strong sense of critical thinking and logical analysis as part of her creative process. Alexa is graduating in May 2016 from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, with a Bachelor of Architecture and a Minor in History and Society. Alexa's innate balance of creativity and logic is what makes her proficient in a multitude of environments, as she understands the importance of form and function.
Past professional projects include an internship and freelance position with The Novogratz in which she was involved in the interior design of boutique hotels, such as Hotel Dylan in Woodstock, NY, as well as inventing patterns for house wares, many of which are currently being sold in Macy's and on Walmart.com, and managing press and social media for the brand. Alexa also worked as an intern at SRA Architecture+Engineering, developing 3D renderings, assembling proposals for the Landmarks Preservation Committee, and detailing architectural plans and sections for commercial and residential projects in New York City.
Currently, Alexa is exploring new opportunities in the design world. A self-starter, she thrives in an environment with varied tasks and is delighted to "wear multiple hats." Alexa has cultivated her skills in typography, graphic design, silkscreen, photography, model-making, woodworking, metalworking, typesetting, and even crocheting, alongside her architectural coursework at The Cooper Union. She is proud to be the graphic designer of the 2016 edition of The Cable, The Cooper Union's annual yearbook publication. Alexa is proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, as well as AutoCAD and Rhino.
