Description

This architectural  competition was proposed by the La Spezia Cityhall in order to establish a new turistical approach for the port weir. The massive structure built in concrete and rocks was to recieve another alternative function and modified in order to allow the presence of people, buildings and eventually a green area.

Our idea of the project was to create a small docks area in the middle dividing the weir in two parts connected by a mobile floating bridge. The center was the main distribution area with restaurants, bars, shops and green areas with grass or other small vegetation, while the extreme points (with the green/red lighthouses) were used as panoramic points. These areas, with a 1000m distance between, were connected by pedestrian and bike tracks.
