About

Since I entered to the faculty of Architecture in 2010, in Colombia, I have developed a passion about how cities work, specially the alternative kinds of urbanism that are emerging, different from the models we have nowadays, in which the market interests are a important problem for the living conditions of common people. This urbanism is creating social, economic and environmental struggles that opposes to the way in which a city might be conceived as the representation of our moral and ethic interests in which the environment, the community and the citizenship should be the pillars.

Since a time ago, I’ve started preparing myself for confronting this topics working on different approaches and contexts. In 2011 I participated in a project, called Audi Urban Future Initiative. This particular project had the goal of planning Bogota of 2050, changing absolutely the vision of the actual city by re-thinking it with the purpose of generating a new kind of urbanism. I also got involved in a job with PROSOFI at the town of Usme in social projects in which the goal was to learn and develop different alternative for generating common spaces in this Colombian slump. I also took part in the PEI program, of my hometown university, in Barcelona and Madrid. In the first I worked with the architect Santiago Cirugeda with whom we recycle projects done for the tricentenary of Barcelona and we projected new kind of social projects that can be done with this re-used materials. In Madrid I work with different collectives such as Zuloark and Basurama for the development of El Campo de la Cebada that’s a common space make by and for the community in reaction of the European crisis of 2008 as a revolutionary and alternative way for constructing city.

Taking this into account, my main purpose in the field of architecture is to continue developing this alternative opportunity that give us the architecture, by designing social housing, urban plans and landscapes.
