Starting from the need of materializing a minimal dwelling, of a high quality environmentally speaking, inside an compact urban surroundings, and with a budget limited to 10 000 CUC, a 4500 CUC lot was chosen, which used to be a partially demolished house´s backyard; it still maintained their perimeter walls. This structure allowed to conceive a duplex house on its interior and minimize manufacturing costs up to 100 CUC per square meter, this parameters oscillating, on average terms, between 200 and 250 CUC per square meter.(1 cuc equals 1 usd, or 25 cuban pesos)

By keeping the already existent pillars and respecting the surrounding high grounds, the main areas were rescued using a fittings combination that met the main lighting and ventilation requirements, thus avoiding the projection of other two functional levels towards the urban environment.

The proposal was fragmented at the back by skylights that, in a reduced environment (3,90 x 7.20 mts) allowed adequate ventilation and lighting for each space. Besides, a fixed furniture, of minimal additional spaces and well integrated on the spatial usage of spaces was conceived, aiding to generate storage areas.
