Sikri ki aloo is an adaptive reuse project based in Fatehpur Sikri, India. Declared UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983, it’s presence has prevented the coming of any industry in the town, leaving its people dependent on farming and weaving. The project asks questions like “what is heritage?”, “what does the monument mean to the people living there today?”, ”is tourism the only boon of preservation?” With a focus on its people, the project explores ways of slowing down the process of manufacturing and making the space a happy and workable space of, for, and by the people.
