This is one of the first river front development projects to be undertaken in India. The project began in the year 2000 and is still ongoing. The main purpose of the project was to make the river move accessible to the public which had been lacking over the decades.
The main spatial intervention in this project was the reclamation of nearly 200 Ha of land in the river. The new land was to be developed as a public promenade, parks & gardens, roads and land for sale.
