Columbia University, New York, NY, US, Masters, Urban Design
The past year at Columbia greatly enhanced Adi's professional and leadership skills; she was working in diverse and international groups, taking leading roles as well as supportive ones.
During this time, she represented the Urban Design students in the school council. As the student representative she took part in school-wide decision making and became familiar with the work of key members in the program.
Adi also has gained important research skills; she sharpened her presentation skills, especially how to synthesize complex data using a variety of visual representation methods. She learned to identify core issues and suggest design solutions, taking into account the economic, social, ecological, and demographic and political environment.
Adi sees great importance in improving and enriching the work environment. For that reason she initiated and executed during the fall of 2013 a "Pecha Kucha" event in which multiple speakers presented their work in a time restricted format.
During the time in Columbia Adi became familiar with resiliency issues in Lower Manhattan, housing issues in East Harlem, zoning codes, incentives and a variety of mechanisms New York City uses in shaping the urban form and fabric. Her final project took place in New Delhi, India and it was a criticism on the current method of planning in the city and a suggestion for less segregated community using means of densification.
