Located in Ferrol Spain, the ORE Hotel + Spa is named for the area’s historical mining culture wherein iron plays a central economic role. While an anchored homage to it’s rustic location, the Ore’s interior design simultaneously celebrates the modernity of it’s structure while exploring the natural elements of it’s environment.
In the celebration of the earths richness, the lobby and hotel quarters make use of materials and texture that emulate those found during iron extraction via stone, 3 dimensional texture, and wall patterns that mimic the interior of a typical mining site.
With the use of natural elements such as hovering rain showers, stone wall-coverings of various scales and fire, the spa departs from the area’s historical qualities above ground while continuing to explore and recreate the iron mining experience.
