Architecture is the triumph of hope over experience.
I am an optimist by definition, and from time to time, this optimism can positively shape our world.
It is difficult to understand the point of stating the obvious. We should use our energies to effect positive change instead of aping the negativity inherent in the profession.

Architecture is an amalgam of all these. My favorite is Louis Khan’s, “architecture is the thoughtful making of space”. I would say ‘shaping’, instead of ‘making’, as the space is already there. It makes sense that these definitions all emphasize the negative, as architecture is an ideal – it is the pursuit of the perfect built space.
