I am a recent Radford University graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Interior Design.
During my four years at Radford I gained knowledge and skills in multiple areas of design such
as drafting, lighting, and graphics as well as learning computer softwares such as, Photoshop,
SketchUP, Revit, AutoCAD and InDesign. I have also had the honor to be a part of Radford
University’s American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and served as the chapter President for
the 2011-2012 school year. Being a part of ASID has helped me gain teamwork and leadership
experience that will benet me in my career.
My experience in the design eld began in high school when I started to intern for a local
design rm in Woodstock, Virginia. There I began to learn the basics and understanding of
design which led me to my career choice. I worked for P.J. Designs for two years. In my junior
year of college, I had the opportunity to intern with Madeline Stuart and Associates in
Los Angeles, California. I applied my design skills for this internship by working on projects using
AutoCAD and Photoshop. I gained experience of the construction side of the business by
shadowing the owner on site visits. I also gained knowledge and experience in different
products by visiting the Pacic Design Center to select materials and nishes.
In addition to design, I have developed visual communications skills and creative thinking.
This was demonstrated in a team project that won rst place in the Interior Design Educator
Council (IDEC) video competition for 2012.
Since graduation, I continued to enhance my skills and keep current with the latest trends in
design and the design software. I revamped my resume and website, attended local design
meetings, such as ASID CEU’s. I enhanced my skills the in newest Photoshop and InDesign
programs. My goal is to apply my design skills with a creative and successful rm that will offer
me growth opportunities with multiple projects and challenges. I am willing to relocate for the
right opportunity.
