About 

Andreas Lechner (*1974 in Graz, Austria) is an architect and professor of architectural design. He is the founder of the eponymous architecture and research practice and a tenured associate professor in the architecture department of Graz University of Technology (TU Graz).

Andreas Lechner holds a Master and PhD degree with distinction (2009) from TU Graz and habilitated in 2017 (Priv.-Doz.). After formative study stays in Los Angeles (Prof. Thom Mayne), Andreas trained as an architect living in Berlin, Tokyo (Shigeru Ban Architects) and Vienna. 

At TU Graz he was assistant professor from 2007 to 2011 and on tenure track from 2011 to 2017. He was a postdoc researcher at Venice‘s IUAV (Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia) and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation in Copenhagen and held lectures and visiting professorships a.o. in Copenhagen, Genoa, Hamburg and Istanbul.

He won first prize at Europan 10 (2010) and completed several projects in and around Graz. He participated in the second Istanbul Design Biennial 2014 and the 15th Venice Architecture Biennale 2016. Andreas is co-editor of the bilingual peer-reviewed GAM Architecture Magazine that is published anually by the architecture department of TU Graz. 

He is a member of the Graz historic town commission (ASVK), a state licensed architect and author of recently published book Entwurf einer architektonischen Gebäudelehre, based on his habilitation thesis from 2016 (Gold Medal - Best Book Design for all over the World 2020) .
