XJTLU’s Department of Architecture is pleased to announce the release of its fourth Yearbook, a celebration of the work of our students and staff produced during the 2016-2017 academic year.

It showcases the work produced by our students in the BEng Architecture - RIBA Part 1, BEng Architectural Engineering and Master of Architectural Design - RIBA Part 2 degrees. While the major focus is on design studios, building technology and humanities-based modules support and enhance our students’ learning.

Along with prescribed modules necessary to complete our academic programmes, the Department organises a range of supplementary activities including field trips, lectures, exhibitions and workshops that feature as part of the Other Activities section. Included here also are the awards won by our staff and students which attest to our increasing recognition as a centre of excellence in architectural education.

The Research section features our work produced in accordance with our strengths, including History, Theory and Heritage; Computational Design and Fabrication; and, Urban Ecologies, along with abstracts of our current Ph.D. Candidates.

New to the Yearbook series is a focus on Practice. It explains not only the value of practice as part of students’ studies, but also the pathways to becoming a qualified architect in China and internationally. In June 2018 the Department will offer the first RIBA Part 3 Membership Eligibility Assessment Panel (MEAP) Access Course which will enable those who complete the course to become international RIBA Chartered Members.

We are delighted to share our 2016-2017 Yearbook with you. Hard copies are available besides of for current students also for 2017 graduates. Please let us know when you visit us next and a copy will be made available to you.
