NEW SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED BY JIANGSU GOVERNMENT


 The local provincial government of Jiangsu, where XJTLU is located, offers generous scholarships for Internationals students. These 'Jasmine' Jiangsu Government Scholarships are available for you at either bachelors or masters degree level here in China. The scholarships, named after the beautiful Jasmine flower abundant in summer in Suzhou, are merit based and the government looks for academic ability and why you are motivated to choose China and XJTLU.  Click here to apply by Tuesday 31 May. LIFE IN SUZHOU


 

With its 2,500 year history, Suzhou offers you a combination of both ancient and modern Chinese values, architecture and lifestyle.  Located near the Yangtze River Delta, Suzhou is only a 30-minute train trip from Shanghai near the Eastern seaboard of China. As a student at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University which is located in Suzhou Industrial Park, you are close to both downtown ancient Suzhou and a variety of recently established restaurant, leisure and entertainment precincts.

Downtown there are interesting and fun streets where you can try local snacks and relax at traditional teahouses such as: Shantang Jie and Pingjiang Lu. Often in the evenings and weekends you can also listen to Pingtan which is a combination of story-telling, song and music. If you are looking for nearby nightclubs, concerts, western cuisine then you can also try areas such as Li Gong Di and Jinji or Dushu Lakes. The lakeside areas are also great for jogging, cycling and even sailing.

Near to XJTLU, there is Wenxing Plaza and Hanlin Yuan Community Centre which offer shopping, restaurants and KTV Karaoke and if you are looking for a gym or swimming pool that is just nearby too.
