Located in the center of Maastricht, in the south of the Netherlands, the project is an extensive renovation of a former post office that dates from 1915. A 'protected' state monument, the project consists of 19 short-stay apartments whose design has been dictated by the building's pre-existing and culturally significant components. Two apartments within the building have balconies that face the adjacent Vrijhof, a large pedestrian square in the center of this ancient Roman city, while the penthouse apartment on the rear of the building features a roof terrace that overlooks the spired skyline of Maastricht. The winner of the 'Monument Prize' will be announced at the awards ceremony on September 13th, in Maastricht.
