Wenya Liu is a New York based architectural designer and artist with a profound interest in the convergence of architecture and art. In 2015, she obtained her Bachelor's degree from the Bartlett School of Architecture at University College London and later joined the renowned design and research firm, Neri &Hu, to embark on her professional journey.
Apart from her professional endeavors, Wenya has actively participated in architectural competitions, where she won the Third Prize for the Shanghai Major Cultural Facilities International Young Architect Competition in 2016. Furthermore, as the founder of Studio WY, she has initiated various art installations in Shanghai, showcasing her artistic prowess.
In pursuit of higher education, Wenya moved to New York City in 2017 to pursue a Master's degree in Architecture at Columbia University. Following her three-year academic journey, she joined the award-winning architectural firm, Kohn Pedersen Fox(KPF), in 2020. As she continued to make her mark in the architectural world through various high-profile projects, she remained committed to her artistic exploration via diverse mediums such as drawings and installations. Her recent drawing series "Tension No.1" was chosen to be displayed at the 25th annual 'Works on Paper 2023' exhibition at the Long Beach Island Foundation.
Wenya's diverse background and experiences have shaped her unique perspective on the interplay between art, technology, and tradition. She is dedicated to creating visually appealing, environmentally responsible, and modern yet nostalgic spaces.
