Working with a world renowned architecture firm, VIATechnik produced an as-built model of the existing conditions of Navy Pier’s landmark theater. Using laser scanning technology to complete the model, it ultimately aided the architect in designing a building that maximized useful space within the existing theater features, including the theater’s fabric tent and spider-like steel structure; its usefulness will continue to serve as an invaluable tool for the construction team to coordinate new construction with existing conditions in the future. The as-built model also included all back-of-house structural, architectural, and MEP features, in which the Architect and Contractor both utilized during the design phase of this project.
