Urbanadd worked closely with the owners of Westland to design this new distillery in Seattle’s SODO neighborhood. The facility houses a 6,000-liter mash house and a double distillation still room comprised of a 7,560-liter wash still and a 5,670-liter spirit still . The flow of the facility seamlessly integrates guest tours into the brewing and distillation processes. Office functions are located on the mezzanine, above a state-of-the-art quality control lab, break room, tasting bar and whiskey library. Materials were selected to respect the owners’ family history in the logging industry and to recall the existing warehouse timber structure, once used for manufacturing cranes by Seattle’s Ederer Company.
