The Average House project takes a tongue-in-cheek look at architectural integration. By performing a three dimensional average of all the facades along a particular streetscape, the project attempts to bring forward the most common and pertinent architectural characteristics of each street, while questioning the notion of “standard” and “typical”. Borrowing from artist Jason Salavon’s photographic studies of averaging photos taken from pop culture, the Average House project uses 3D scans of Montreal streetscapes as its data pool.
