"Having witnessed the community he was born into being completely erased twice it seems obvious that architect Paul Stallan should go back to first principles in architecture to understand how we might live together better, appreciate beauty and celebrate meaning and purpose.

Paul Stallan believes that comprehensive and deep rooted urban regeneration is only possible if we first understand the generative principles of space, form and meaning in architecture. Paul believes that our failure to understand the genesis of an existing architecture or environment has resulted in the catastrophic destruction of communities in our recent past.

Paul Stallan is design director of award winning architectural practice Stallan-Brand and is a champion of sustainable urban architecture and place making. Paul has led transformational settlement projects including the design of Glasgow's 2014 Commonwealth Games Village an initiative that leaves a social legacy helping tackle deep rooted depravation in one of the UK's most deprived communities.

Paul despite having won many prestigious awards, including Architect of the Year and the Royal Scottish Academy Gold Medal for Architecture, as well as receiving International, RIBA and RIAS design awards for global and local projects never forgets his Glasgow roots and formative experiences growing up in this socially complex and challenged city he calls his muse."

Paul Stallan recently presented his views on the key principles of urban regeneration case studying both international work and their local work at Glasgow's Commonwealth Games Village.
