SHARESTAN CONSULTANTS was established in 1967 under the name of “Architectural Consulting Bureau.” The architects and planners who started this office had collaborated with each other on various projects prior its the formation of SHARESTAN. Their shared desire to establish an office with architectural design principles rooted in both classic Iranian architecture and modern architecture & urbanism brought forth the establishment of SHARESTAN.
The members of this group are practicing architects and planners who are constantly researching. Their objective is to focus the design process on Iranian Architecture and Planning, with regards to economic, social and cultural aspects.
The results of their researches have been published in various educational and architectural publications.
By recruiting more professionals in 1975, SHARESTAN became a member of Iran’s Consultants Guild, sanctioned by the Plan and Budget Organization. Also, by offering urban design and architectural services to clients with an eye on the big picture and a deep understanding of the communities’ needs, this office became vastly renowned among major clients and authorities having jurisdiction.
SHARESTAN has been practicing architecture and planning throughout the years, with a constant eye on technological and scientific development. They apply their experience to each new project, but always remain loyal to their prime goal of merging Iranian architecture with urban planning/design.
