This project involved working closely with the client to help her realize her vision of creating a cozy and welcoming space that references the timelessness of a traditional Italian bakery while remaining true to the distinct culture of the Commercial Drive neighbourhood. An arched doorway divides the space from the large dining area at the front to the full-production bakery and kitchen at the rear. The original decision to relocate the walk-in freezer and electrical panel allowed for a larger, more-functional bakery while maximizing daylight for the dinning area. Custom navy wainscoting wraps around the room and service area, contrasting bright white walls and wood shelving for bread and wine. Antique chairs collected over time by the client line the wood tables and banquette.
