About

My name is Sean Michael Rigdon and I graduated from Kansas State University with a Master of Architecture degree in May of 2010. In February 2010 I obtained my LEED Green Associate credential as a stepping stone to LEED AP. By doing so, I have announced my devotion to responsible design and preservation of the environment for future generations.

My final academic studio at KSU spanned from 2009 to 2010 and allowed me to study healing environments as they pertain to people with dual-sensory impairments. To fully understand this special population we traveled to Glasgow, Scotland. While there we met Alan Dunlop, the architect who designed a school for these people with impairments, who led us on a tour of the school and introduced us to the students. The research I completed and the personal contact I had with my target audience allowed me to become more sensitive to how the built environment can directly impact people’s lives. I now have a richer understanding of architecture and how it can impact our environment.

Since graduation I have entered into an architectural competition, created my own website, designed and submitted a proposal to Los Angeles County for a snack stand and collaborated with The Dallas Design Group on a lake house in Corsicana. I have worked full time for Law-Kingdon Architects in Wichita, KS and HTK Architects in Topeka, KS. I continue to work with roomations.com to transform real client briefs into a fully rendered room design complete with a shopping list, all while staying within budget. I am seeking full time employment with an architecture firm in which I can contribute my skills. I currently work for Furniture Row Companies in Fort Collins, CO and have been doing so for nearly 8 years. Working in this specific field of retail has trained me not only how to translate customer’s wants and needs into a tangible solution but also on how to manage several people, leading my team towards a successful store.

I have kept my skills sharp by working on independent contracts while using the programs the architectural community utilizes. I stay informed on the latest in technology, innovation and breakthroughs in design. I thoroughly enjoy architecture in all forms, excelling at detailing, hand drawing and computer rendering.
