An adaptive reuse project in Williamsburg, STUDIOSC was tasked with updating this two story existing structure to house new commercial storefronts and add 3 floors of new residential above. The main commercial entrance to the cellar allowed us to open the lower entrance to the sky, while retaining, reinforcing and displaying the existing structure as the main design elements. The new addition above ties into the existing building using a similar proportional language but opting for cleaner new materials to allow the existing not to be washed out.
