Richard Allen

Severna Park, MD, US

About

My responsibilities typically include design, construction documents, model building, rendering, permitting, estimation, and construction management. I typically work independently and am comfortable overseeing junior level designers.

I have been working full time in Architectural Design since 1998. As a life long fine artist with a concentration in sculpture and painting, I was recruited from the art department of FAU in 1998 by the wildly talented Leslie Huddleston, who trained me for eight years in the ancient art of traditional hand drawn rendering on a drafting table- creating 3D views and floor plans to be used in advertising. This type of work can be seen in the "Hand Drawn Renderings" section of my website, below.

Following that, I spent five years with a small architectural firm in Baltimore, acting as the head draftsman. The majority of projects there involved creating construction documents and design proposals for new custom homes, countless row home gut rehabs, master suite/ garage additions, and some light commercial work. For the three years following that I was the designer and estimator for a general contracting company in Severna Park doing similar types of work. Since 2014, I have been employed as an Intern Architect, and am currently a full time graduate student at Morgan State University, studying Architecture.
