I am an experienced senior architect with extensive background in the planning, design, construction administration, project management, and construction management of large and complex project.  Projects I have successfully completed include the installation of TSA checked baggage security screening at airports in the FAA Northwest-Mountain and Western-Pacific Regions, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angeles and the Sun Coast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

 

I have a demonstrated ability to successfully lead and coordinate diverse teams of professionals and jurisdictional authorities though the planning, design, and construction phases of these projects. Employment 

Construction Manager for J.R. Pipeline Co Inc., Perris, CA, US, PM/CM

PM/CM consultant to J.R. Pipeline Co., Inc responsible for directing construction crews in the rehabilitation of the Central Outfall Sewer for 5 miles from Van Ness & Slauson to Market Street in Inglewood. The project also included the excavation of two separate access sites each approximately 100’x80’x50’ deep and the reconstruction of the storm drain at 4th and 59th Ave. The project included the abandonment and installation of numerous maintenance holes for the Bureau of Engineering Waste Water Program at depths of up to 67 feet. I generated all permit documents and contractor submittals to the City of Los Angeles, the Bureau of Sanitation, Bureau of Engineering, LA DOT and the City of Inglewood. I established the construction cost estimates for change orders on the project as well as the construction schedule update. I provided the matrix by with JRP is managing the Project Labor Agreements. I provided the Spanish translation of Safety meetings and direction to Spanish speaking laborers and ran the project site in the absence of the JRP PM.

Technical consultant to Harvey Rose & Associates, LLC responsible for providing FAA, TSA and other aviation technical design and construction data as wells as industry standards to the City of Los Angeles Controllers Office in support of the Los Angeles World Airports Capital Improvements Program Audit. The audit covered all areas of project delivery from procurement, through design to construction and occupancy. I established the team’s FAA technical requirements for the development of Category X airports and provided comparable Capital Improvement Programs at other Cat X airport by which the auditing team could evaluated LAWA’s metric against.

Project Manager responsible for providing sustainable design services ranging from developing a client’s LEED OPR (Owner Performance Requirements) at the start of a project, including all other stages of sustainable design documentation leading up to the LEED submittal to the USGBC at the end of the project. I established the LEED goals for the project before the Schematic Design Phase, coordination of the various engineering disciplines to achieve the LEED goals during the Design Development Phase, included green materials and practices into the construction documents and specifications during the Construction Documents Phase, and insured that the green building objectives were achieved during the Permitting, Bidding and Construction Administration Phases of the project.

Terminal Renovation and Expansion Project, San Bernardino International Airport (SBD), CA. GKK: Project Manager/Architect responsible for the renovation of 45,000 GSF of the existing 67,200 GSF terminal building, construction of a 17,000 GSF concourse addition, in a Multiple Prime project delivery method, on a Fast Track schedule; managed and produced the programming, planning, and preliminary design documents for the project. The renovated terminal includes a new 10 gate two-story concourse with airline operations spaces below, TSA operations and security screening areas, airport operations areas, airline ticket offices, concession spaces, a new baggage claim facility, the entire baggage handling system including the incorporation of inline EDS, reconfigured aircraft parking area and the addition of curbside canopy’s. Construction cost: $50 M. Start Date: 7/06, End Date: 6/08.

City of Los Angeles, Bureau of Engineering, Fire Facilities Bond Program. I worked as a Project Manager providing design services for new fire station facilities, existing fire station additions and facility renovations under the Proposition F Fire Facilities Bond and Proposition Q Fire Facilities Repair Program. For the Prop F fire stations, Fire Station #4 and #94 met the requirements for LEED Certification. The design incorporated materials with recycled content, energy efficient electrical and mechanical systems, maximized use of day lighting, and incorporated techniques that enhance indoor air quality.

Civic Center Fire Station #4. GKK: Project Manager/Architect responsible for a new 40,000 SF hybrid fire station building type directly connected to the new 80,000 SF City of Los Angeles Emergency Operations Center (EOC); managed and produced the design and construction documents for the project and the LEED submittal for Certification. In addition to the standard LAFD fire crews, the station also houses and supports the LAFD Operations and Control Dispatch, the Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles Emergency Preparedness Department working in the EOC. Construction cost: $21.0M. Start Date: 6/05, End Date: 3/08.

Harbor City Fire Station #85. GKK: Project Manager/Architect responsible for 2,600SF addition to an existing 9,817 SF fire station; managed and produced the design and construction documents for the project. The construction phasing was a critical component of the design, as the station had to maintain 24 hour operations throughout construction. Construction cost: $1.2M. Start Date: 12/05, End Date: 2/07.

North Hollywood Fire Station #89. GKK: Project Manager/Architect responsible for a 6,498 SF addition to an existing 7,933 SF fire station and a 1,400 SF facilities renovation of the interior of the station; managed and produced the design for the project. Crenshaw Regional Fire Station #94. I worked as a Project Architect, Project Manager, Program Manager and finally as the Western Sub-Regional Manager, responsible for the design and execution of temporary, phased and permanent construction related to the implementation of airport checked baggage security screening for the Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration. Duties included coordination of design review meetings with all parties involved including the various airport authorities, airline stakeholders, TSA Federal Security Directors, building officials, design consultants and contractors. In all cases I produced scoping documents, meeting / review / production schedules, generated design meeting minutes and the programming documents required for checked baggage security screening. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Los Angeles, CA. LEO A DALY: Project Architect responsible for $100 million interior improvements to Tom Bradley International Terminal; managed and produced the design and construction documents for the project. The improvements project included remodeling to 104 gates, airline lounges, FIS facilities, gate hold rooms, concession spaces, the baggage claim area, airline ticket offices and the entire baggage handling system including the incorporation of inline EDS. Terminal Canopy and Roadway Expansion Project, Denver International Airport (DIA), Denver, CO. LEO A DALY: Project Architect for the design of 400,000 SF roadway expansions and 200,000 SF terminal canopy additions to Jeppesen Terminal. The scope of the project included adding vehicular traffic lanes to level 5 and 6 roadways (east and west) adjacent to the terminal. It also included the addition of two 100ft. by 900ft. canopy structures for overhead coverage to passengers awaiting commercial ground transportation on the expanded level 5 roadway. Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, The Smith Group, Inc., Burbank, Ca. Responsible for a secondary constructability review of The Smith Group’s CD’s and verification of the Construction Managers constructability review comments, corrections and claims. Provided, The Smith Group, Inc with a recovery plan and implementation of a Quality Assurance/Quality Controls program for Phase 2 of the hospital project. California State University, Channel Islands Science Building, Channel Islands, CA. Bobrow/Thomas and Associates: Project Architect responsible for a new two story 30,000 SF classroom and auditorium building. The project involved the redesign of a previous BTA submittal to the stylistic preference of the University President . Construction cost: $23.0M. Start Date: 12/01, End Date: 2/03.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Los Angeles, CA. LEO A DALY: Project Architect responsible for $300 million expansion of Tom Bradley International Terminal; managed and produced the design and construction documents for the project. The renovation project included 10 gate modifications, additional space for airline lounges, FIS facilities, gate hold rooms, concession spaces, the baggage claim area and the relocating of bus gate operations to a one-way traffic flow. $300 M. Terminal Renovation and Expansion Project, William P. Hobby, Houston Airport (HOU), Houston, TX. LEO A DALY: Project Designer responsible for design of the terminal expansion.
