About 

Rana is an architectural and urban designer with an interdisciplinary approach to architecture and urbanism. She has experience working on projects of varying scales, ranging from interior and architectural design to urban design and urban planning. Her research focuses on strategic urban planning, urban regeneration and transit-oriented developments in growing cities. Studying in Cairo and Berlin, Rana developed a diverse background and a strong interest in the built environment. She holds a Master's Degree in Architecture and Urban Design.

• Taught 3-4 classes per semester, ranging from bachelor design studios to theory, history, urban design and architecture representation.

• Participated in the study of “Formal-Informal Interface: A Comparative Analysis in Three Egyptian Cities” (2018) which comparatively investigates the relevance of the formal-informal interface in Cairo and calls for policy recommendations towards more integrated and inclusive cities in Africa. The project is supported by the African Urban Research Initiative (AURI): “Fostering a Comparative Research Agenda in African Cities.”
• Responsibilities included research, mapping, data analysis and visualization, documentation, and development of urban sections/profiles for comparative analysis.
