I might be known for turning things inside out, outside in, upside down and downside up! and some do wonder as why I enjoy doing this..

I see the value in questioning what has been done.. we can’t keep doing what has been done before, we need to expand and grow, what was ideal yesterday might not be ideal tomorrow.. what was ideal in a certain context or situation might not be ideal for another context or situation. I love the joy and the delight when we all are pleasantly surprised.. I itch to innovate and to inspire with another itch to stretch everything to its potential.. I not only think as a designer but I also think as the technical person, as the money person and as the user!

When Sonic Union on Bryant Park got shortlisted by FRAME AWARDS and got on the finalist list by INTERIOR DESIGN MAGAZINE in the last week or so, it made me reflect back on the two sound recording studios I designed.

I definitely challenged what has been done before in the design of sound recording studios! My vision was to create a space like no other, unique to the client where the spatial design reflects its location in the city and references the site it overlooks while embracing and supporting the client’s culture.

This would not have been possible without the trust of the client, the hard work of the whole team, the great collaboration between RAW-NYC Architects and the fabricator, and the most appreciated support of our acoustical consultant and everyone on the team who was open to be challenged and was committed to deliver their best.
