In its ninth year, the purpose of the Student Design Awards Program is to recognize excellence in architectural design, promote architecture in the State of Maryland and to build a relationship between AIA Maryland and the academic community. This program is part of AIA Maryland’s annual Design Awards program. Eligibility is limited to students enrolled in an architectural program at a community college, college, or university in Maryland, or residents of Maryland enrolled in architectural programs located elsewhere during the 2014-2015 school year.

JURY COMMENTS:
This project is cited for multiple reasons. This unique approach to a library addition is direct, playful and inventive. The parallel green roof study and technical knowledge rounds out the architecture. There is a range of design techniques being deployed; physical modeling, digital modeling, and rendering with a high degree of skill.
