Throughout my academic career, I have gained a solid understanding of design principles and building technologies, as well as hands-on experience with various design software programs such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit. I have also had the opportunity to work on several design projects individually and as part of a team, which has allowed me to develop my communication and collaboration skills.
During my undergrad, as I keenly soaked-in the subject knowledge through my academic courses, I started to experience a sea change in my perspective. Now no longer I saw mere spaces, instead, as if they had become alive and started to talk to me. I started to enjoy exploring my city at large, seeing streets, markets, residential colonies, business centres, shopping malls, temples, forts, even nearby villages, connecting my observation with my academics and dreaming of how I would be rebuilding them giving a better connotation. Each course and studio opened a window to a new horizon for me to explore. The brainstorming sessions among my peers for conceptual building was my favourite as it set me free to imagine uninhibitedly and visualize potential creations. I also relished the charm of all-nighters that built our camaraderie among us peers, while working tirelessly to crystalizing our ideas on design sheets within the deadline.
The experience of M.Arch at CMU, exposed me to aspects of computational design and the field of parametric architecture, along with that it helped me curate by interest towards urban design and projects that provide of the community especially focusing over the children as subject.
As a designer, I have always been passionate about enhancing my skills and gaining real-world experience. This led me to actively seek out opportunities to participate in various design competitions. Through these experiences, I have been able to showcase my creativity, innovation, and ability to meet design challenges. I am proud to say that my success in these competitions, such as receiving honourable mentions in the TRANS PLAN-2018 international student design competition and gaining recognition from the Miami team in the Miami Pavilion Restaurant Design Competition 2017, has allowed me to demonstrate my design abilities. Additionally, my participation in team competitions, such as in the inter-college nationwide competition organized by the National Association of Students of Architecture (NASA India) in Nari Gandhi trophy, has helped me develop my collaborative skills.
Recently, I have developed a growing interest in the field of urban design, which led me to participate in the ULI Hines 2023 competition. This experience has allowed me to demonstrate my adaptability and willingness to expand my skills and knowledge beyond my previous design experiences. In addition, my participation in the TRANS PLAN-2018 competition has showcased my ability to think critically and creatively about design challenges and to create immersive and transformative designs. Moreover, my focus on cost-conscious architecture in the NASA India competition has demonstrated my awareness of practical considerations in design and my ability to balance creativity with functionality. I am proud to say that my participation in various design competitions showcases my passion for design, my willingness to learn and adapt, and my creativity and innovation in problem-solving. Overall, I am excited to continue exploring my interests in urban design and look forward to taking on new design challenges and opportunities to grow my skills.
