The project idea is to place in the ruins a monumental sculptural element and timeless. Almost like a stranded ship from time immemorial on the coasts of Cascais. A wreck consumed by time. The distinctive feature of the place is its panoramic views, then the work wants to enhance this feature and enhance the entire area with its monumentality. The materials, the geometry and the openings are integrated into the landscape and offer fascinating glimpses into the great ocean and rugged coastline. The visitor has the opportunity to turn around the building and see it always in a different way thanks to massive and angular geometries. Uneven surfaces in corten stand between corners worn the ancient walls and highlight the geometry of the fortress. The interiors are also irregular and staggered in individual plans. Three levels, one of which are underground spaces dedicated to services and exhibition halls. The walkway entrance, welcomes visitors and directs him ideally to the ocean through a large hole in the structure. A large terrace covered by a curtain with steel nets opens towards the sea and the beach, offering breathtaking views of the unspoilt nature.
The museum wants to resume the original grounds of pre-existing, moving away from them in order to preserve them exalting forms.
The concept as a model of the museum was the irregularity of a monolith faceted that references to the natural geometry of the cliff and ancient fortresses that were found along the coast of Cascais.
