Oliv Turon was born in Biarritz, France in 1992. His first interest in comfort living instinctively rose around 7-8 years old in his bedroom. He could never keep the same layout of his bedroom the same for more than a few days. Having attended a Christian high school that focused mostly on academics, Olivier was not at that time able to continue his exploration of the arts and focus on the things he loved. However, just when he was about to graduate high school, he moved out of Paris to Biarritz. Still not knowing what he was meant to do, he continued his academic studies at a Business School where he earned his Business Baccalaureate three years later. “Now you should do +2 years towards a BTEC Higher National Diploma,” said his dear mother. Oliv gave it a try but left a few weeks after the semester started. After explaining to his mother that what he absolutely wanted was to learn English in America. In 2015, Olivier moved to Santa Barbara to study English as a Second Language at Santa Barbara City College. Surf and school were his new routine and this is when he realized that he wanted to get a better education and applied for SBCC’s Interior Design Transfer Program.
Oliv is currently an undergraduate Interior Architecture & Design student at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, expected to graduate in 2020. He is now focusing on building up his portfolio and applying for internships to increase his work experience for the future. As of right now, he has strong skills in using Adobe Creative Suite applications, AutoCad, SketchUp to increase the aliveness of his projects as well as good sketching and color rendering techniques. In his spare time, he enjoys building up wooden furniture recycled from pallets among other DIY creative projects.
Oliv is inspired by artists, architects, and designers such as Dror Benshetrit, Olafur Eliasson, Nina Oxman, and Bjarke Ingels. For now, Oliv continues to practice and refine his skills, finding his own style and improving it over time, to achieve success in his desired career. His dream job would be to design or redesign private aircraft, boat interiors. Until then, he wants to learn as much as he possibly can. He doesn't know what his future holds, but he's utterly convinced the bond he has with Architecture & Design will bring him to a place where he can realize his dreams and simply be himself.
