Peter Zellner is the recipient of this year’s University of Kentucky College of Design Brown-Forman Visiting Chair Endowment in Urban Design. Previous recipients include Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang, Julien de Smedt of JDS Architects, Dan Wood of WORKac Architects and Michael Rotondi of RoTo Architects.

Zellner along with UK CoD Visiting Professor Skip Graffam FSAL, LEED AP (BD+C), Partner and Director of Research at OLIN, and members of UK CoDD's leadership and Faculty are leading Studio Louisville, a College of Design satellite studio that is engaging members of the Portland neighborhood of West Louisville to explore how architecture and urban design reflect and foster community identity, health and resiliency.

This year's iteration of Studio Louisville will focus on Portland's riverfront along the Ohio River and will embrace nearly 30 students from the University of Kentucky College of Design's Architecture, Interiors, Historic Preservation and Urban & Environmental Design (MUED) programs as well as students from University of Kentucky's Department of Landscape Architecture. 

The studio will be co-taught by David Biagi, Director of Studio Louisville, School of Architecture, Jeffrey Johnson, Director, School of Architecture, Rebekah Radtke, Assistant Professor College of Design-School of Interiors, Dan Vivian, Chair, Department of Historic Preservation, Ned Crankshaw, Professor, and Chair Department of Landscape Architecture, Carolina Segura, Senior Lecturer, Department of Landscape Architecture and Jeff Fugate, MUED, College of Design.

Zellner, who coordinated SCI-Arc's Future Initiatives Urban Design program between 2008 and 2014, will bring students to Los Angeles in late October to tour the Los Angeles River and study its redevelopment and planning.
