As part of the NewSchool of Architecture and Design (NSAD) lecture series, David Alan Ross, principal of Code-A in New York, will speak at the school’s campus Monday, June 11, on his current research, Animal Style. The topic explores building morphology through goal-directed, high-fidelity models and challenges an essential function of architecture: to continuously acclimate the body between natural and mechanized systems for performative and sensational effect.

Ross, a licensed architect in California, is an award-winning author and designer who has taught at institutions across the country, including University of California, Berkeley, California College of the Arts (CCA),  and Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). His firm Code-A is a platform for exploratory architecture. Code-A fuels a series of automated applications, leading to both technological and theoretical transformations in systemic design.

The lecture will take place at 7 p.m. at the NSAD auditorium, 1249 F Str., in San Diego, Calif. The event is open to the public, but limited seating is available.
