Art is what gives our projects their soul, Street art has been an in integral part of NYC’s art culture since the 70S.And the movement grew alongside the hip-hop culture and is now a permanent part of pop culture. The evolution of graffiti and street art has given way to sanctioned and celebrated murals across the globe and is not seen as an act of vandalism
Here I present to you my masters project on a prelude to art institute, An institute that documents graffiti art as well as showcases its evolution through various mediums and technology.
The main design intention is to showcase street art, giving it a platform. Architecturally, the idea is to have a space that embraces the nature of street art, site constraint in terms of the size and also exhibits the art on the façade of the building as well as inside keeping in mind the importance of the display area in showcasing street art.
The interior space consists of various medium to flaunt the artform and spur a modern take on street art. In a nutshell, this art institute is designed to give a different perspective and encourage a modern take on street art that has evolved over time in terms of medium, material, audience, and art itself.
