Michelle Hook is a 2020 Master of Architecture graduate from the University of Washington with Advanced Studies in History, Theory and Criticism. Her thesis, which focused on speculative fiction as a queer tactic for designing architecture was recently showcased as part of Archinect's 2020 Thesis Features.

Michelle currently works as a Designer and Researcher at Office of (Un)Certainty Research in Seattle, WA.

Worked closely with the teams of Wing Luke Elementary School and Mount Si High School in the Construction Administration phase by attending weekly site meetings, completing field reports of the site and construction conditions, and reviewing shop drawings and submittals.

Created a visual guidebook for Mount Si High School alongside the marketing team for use of teachers, staff, and other occupants of the newly opened building. This included spatial diagrams, way-finding maps, and other useful graphics.

Worked closely with a large design team on Mount Si High School from Schematic Design through completion of Construction Documents. Through the responsibility of overseeing the design of the sophomore wing of the high school while coordinating with mechanical, structural and electrical engineers and producing high quality graphics of the project, I found a new passion within social architecture that directly benefited the lives of students and faculty.

AIA Seattle Housing Design Forum - Winter Studio Project chosen for presentation, Other

The 2018 Housing Design Forum focused on single-family residential design, and was divided into three sessions: inspiration, innovation and impact. How are today’s most inspired architects and thinkers employing innovative performance strategies, exploring materials, and engaging with questions about the future of housing design? This full-day program combined keynote presentations, case studies, research and provocative dialogue.

My 2018 winter studio project was presented as part of the inspiration session.
