Bruce McMillan Architects AIA, Manhattan, KS, US, Architectural Intern

Current duties include drafting and detailing in all stages of design to construction documents. I have experience presenting to clients, city commissions, housing boards, and the board of zoning appeals. I have been exposed to construction administration work, creating field reports, verifying contractor submittals, and documenting meeting minutes. I have prepared RFQ's, Feasability studies, cost estimates, pay requests, and contracts. This position has given me the experience to gather information and experience from all aspects of the profession, and all stages of design. This firm possesses a diverse work portfolio, I have been a part of residential projects, restorations, commercial, religious, and government work.

Burns and McDonnell, Kansas City, MO, US, Architectural Intern

Assigned to the Aviation and Federal division at Burns and McDonnell in Kansas City, Missouri in the winter 2018/19 and the summer of 2019. There were in total 250+ interns in Kansas City that represented the top 1.7 % of all applicants. My duties included preparing construction documents, renderings, as well as the creation a fly through video to show for promotional purposes on base. All of the projects were federal buildings where we worked with in-house engineers and the USCOE. I gained lots of Revit and Lumion experience, as well as coordinating with interior and landscape architects.

Lickel Architecture, Kansas City, MO, US, Architectural Intern

This firm serviced renovations and new builds for AMC theaters and QuikTrip, and scattered miscellaneous work. I gained lots of experience working in project teams, and preparing construction documents in Revit. I also worked very closely with the firm owner, Dan Lickel, to produce to new standard details that are now being used across the board on all of their projects. I gained experience traveling to Houston and Charlotte, to conduct construction administration work, and site surveying.

Education

Currently pursuing a masters degree in Architecture. It is a 5-year program that does not offer an undergraduate degree. In my time at Kansas State I have been the Environmental Design Student Ambassador, a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, and have been awarded the Kansas State Leadership Scholarship, as well as the Dean's Advisory Board Scholarship. In the spring of 2019 I had the privilege to study abroad in Orvieto, Italy.
