A project proposal for an art school as a vertically tilted urban block, located in the center of Mexico City.
The project was started with the analysis of the campus typology through a creative reordering of a university case study. A technique for representing the analysis of
the precedent study was the figure/ground map, carefully constructed from the measurement system of a grid.
To turn the university into a vertical typology, the planar diagrams (aka “Flip-Flop Facades”) were built as vertical models, set within the regulating grid of a curtain wall.
A complexed street pattern in front of the Tower was rationalized with a grid of ponds. These water elements create an open public space with glass pavilions for students and visitors.
